Design is in the Details

I’ve said this line a lot in my career. Initially it was me simply misquoting Charles Eames, where he said “The details are not the details. They make the design”. Earlier in my career it was typically focused more on aesthetic experience design decisions, but over time it has grown to become a philosophy for my belief and passion in Design.

Now this line represents all of the things that go into making great Design happen, and the business outcomes that come from it. The team, the process, the insights, the collaboration, the relationships, and of course, all of those gritty pixel-pushing execution details I mentioned above. Collectively these are the “details” that make Design happen.

(incidentally, I recently saw that Paul Bennett from IDEO gave a great TED talk titled “Design is in the Details”).

My career experience places me squarely in the overlap of product, marketing and brand. I am passionate about all three, and I believe this is where the best work happens.

Brand Experience

I’ve been lucky enough to work with many brands, big and small, across all verticals.

Make it stand out.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
